KRZYSZTOF Z. CIESZKOWSKI is a curator in the Library of the Tate Gallery, London, and has recently published studies of Joseph Wright of Derby, Lady Butler, and the prizefighter Bendigo.
DETLEF W. DÖRRBECKER teaches the history of Western art at the University of Trier. His forthcoming articles include studies of Flaxman’s critique of Bernini in the Lectures on Sculpture and of the engravers’ struggle for full membership in the Royal Academy of Art, 1769-c. 1850.
